This might sound fairly trivial, but while walking on Gay St. during lunch today, I happened to notice that Subway has removed their nasty, ugly, yellow, plastic, suburban-style sign. They have a temporary banner hanging in its place. Maybe they are going to replace it with something more appropriate for the hip character of their up-and-coming neighborhood. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Every little improvement adds up.
Also, I noticed a sign on their door saying that they are now open on Sundays. While I am not a Subway fan, its nice to see a trend developing in which some restaurants in the downtown core are attempting to stay open on weekends, like El Arepazo, Warehouse Cafe, Queen Bee and now Subway.
Now, if we can get Tip Top to rip that nasty facade off the front of their building, and get that big ugly Capital Photo plastic sign pulled down.....
