We are taking a train to the West coast on Friday (Actually leaves very early Saturday). We are having trouble finding a good way to Cinci. Currently, the best option we have is to rent a car one way, drop it off at the airport and then take a taxi to the train station... This is not ideal... We are flying back to Columbus so leaving a car down there doesn't work...
Does anyone have an better ideas of how to get to Cinci one way???

Megabus has a late night bus on Friday from Columbus to Cincinnati. Here are the details:
Departs 10:50 PM Columbus, NW corner of Nationwide Blvd. and High St.
Arrives 1:25 AM Cincinnati, W 4th St at Race St
A quick Google search brought up mixed reviews about on-time reliability for other routes, but I didn't see any Columbus-Cincinnati reviews.

Have and still am considering Greyhound... Still not ideal... Of course ideal is someone that will pick up us at our house and drop us off at the train station... Actually ideal would to still have a train station in Columbus but that is a whole other bag of slugs...
Not worried about the exact departure time... I'm taking a train so not completely worried about schedule.. Way to be positive Antonio.....

Given what's available, seems as close as ideal as possible.
Map show the Greyhound and Amtrak station are about 2 miles from each other in Cincy.

Paul - Not ideal was just a set up for the door to door service joke in the next line... Like I said we are considering Greyhound, just looking for other options... 3C doesn't exist so really doesn't play into this thread.. Columbus use to have a train station and it makes me sad that we lost it...
Antonio- I started this thread to find out what is available. So far I've gotten 3 good ideas. I was hoping for a couple more. So instead of attempting to end the thread with a statement that your opinion is right maybe you could just let it go for a while...

Gotcha.
Only other thing I can think of is posting for a rideshare on Craigslist. A lot of people heading down to Cincy from Columbus (and vice versa) on the weekends.

Beware Greyhound. Don't count on their schedule. The last time I took a Greyhound bus, departure was very delayed. The bus was coming from Indianapolis to Columbus. About an hour after the bus left Indianapolis, the NEXT bus scheduled from Indianapolis to Columbus broke down. The first bus had to turn around and head back to pick up the stranded passengers. It ended up getting into Columbus 4 hours late.
I would be very concerned about getting to the station on time to catch your train if you took Greyhound.

Buses break down all the time because they can. The rail system cannot allow breakdowns, so rail equipment is meticulously maintained.

Having taken the train out of Cinci a few times, my advice:
Getting to cinci early and spending some time maybe having a nice dinner and bumming around downtown or maybe the University area is not a horrible way to spend an evening if you have the time. There's even the natural history museum in the same building as the train station.
If you have a lot of bags that might be a hassle, though.

Are there lockers at the station? All dependent on size and quantity of bags, of course. I know when I googled, there were a handful of rental places a few streets over. Depending on their hours, you may be able to rent from the company here and drop off there. Followed by RMM's suggestion.

Relatively speaking Megabus drops you in a better spot (in the heart of downtown) though you are literally dropped at the curb. There is a Metro bus that services Union Terminal/Museum Center that may go as far east as the Greyhound station.

Call the Cincinnati Museum center and inquire about long term parking at their parking lot on site. I guess this option depends on how long you are going to be gone. I been the same route with my daughter and just bit the bullet and drove her. Had a nice breakfast on the way back.
