Big Run is SW Columbus has a great hill. It used to be a derby hill.
It is pretty far back in the park.
The only problem I could see with Big Run is getting back up the hill because you will go a LONG WAY.

From Dispatch.com...
Bump!
Looks like we might be getting some more snow this weekend.
Who's ready for some sledding? :D
I grew up sledding at the spot on the Scioto river @ fishinger/riverside dr in Arlington
They put bails of hay up so you don't Sunny Bono on a tree or sled into the river lol
Kids build snow ramps too, nothing like catching air on a plastic saucer :-D
anyone go sledding today?

Our kids wanted to, but you can still see the top of the grass here on the northwest side. That didn't stop a few folks from making mud tracks down Wilson Bridge hill.
I just looked at the 10-day forecast -- looks like we're going to be pretty light on snow for January.
We hit the small hill next to the rec center building at Indian Village this morning. Not a lot of snow on the ground, but fun enough for a four year old. ;)
+1 to Big Run and Darby Creek. I recall the hill at Gantz Park in Grove City being nice as well.
We went over to Clinton Como this morning. Sledding was a bit frustrating because the snow was so light. My uncle sent pictures from his foot+ of snow in Cleveland and my daughter is totally jealous.

Watch out in that park, there's a good chance the new gas line will go through there (it's that or the research wetlands) and they'll need to close off and disturb a big area. They'll need a "layout area" where they weld together sections of pipe before boring them under the river.
The property manager from parks and rec was at that recent meeting, complaining that anytime a project disturbs a park like this, it's never fully restored. So I suggest you take some Before pictures now.
Bumping this up since we got some snow...
Probably not legal, but we went sledding on Mt. Weinland, at N. Grant and 5th Ave across from the new builds in Weinland Park. There's the BIG steep hill and lots of smaller hills. Also, lots of fresh untouched snow for building stuff.
I have a hill in the back thats been used as a sled hill for years by locals I allow em mostly Hi school kids I cant do it feels like my guts get pushed into my throat but its in Pickaway county as I dont reside in Cbus anymore, Rockmill lake in Fairfield county has a nice sled hill not far from Cbus.
MetroParks does daily updates on what hills are open.
Here's their one from today:
Sledding hills are open at Battelle Darby Creek, Blacklick Woods Golf Courses and Highbanks. The kiddie's hill at Blendon Woods is also open. Please note that the sledding hill at Sharon Woods is closed. You can cross-country ski at all the parks, except Inniswood and Sharon Woods.
I'm not sure if it has a name but I grew up sledding at the park off of Wilson Bridge Road in Worthington. We would make it from the top of the hill down to the tennis courts for those familiar with it.
There is a dare-devil type run in the small forested area just east of Calumet Christian School. This is a no-holds-barred type of hill. Make sure you bail before the creek at the bottom, you will probably want to bail well before you get to the creek anyway.

*G* I was talking to the city horticulturalist about removing honeysuckle from that park, and she was only half-joking when she said that they leave it in place at the foot of the sledding hill to serve as a barrier keeping people from going down the bank to the floodplain.
