Press Release wrote SKYBUS PUTS MORE $10* TICKETS UP FOR SALE; EXPANDS SERVICE TO GREENSBORO, PUNTA GORDA/FT. MYERS
-- Spring break included; tickets on sale at 6 a.m. today --
COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 16 – Skybus Airlines put thousands of its now-famous $10 seats on sale at 6 a.m. (EDT) today for the March 7-May 31, 2008 period.
Skybus also announced it will increase service from Columbus to Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, NC and Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers, FL, and discontinue service to Bellingham, WA and San Diego, CA.
Skybus offers at least 10 seats at $10* on every flight, every day. On average, Skybus fares are half of the comparable fare offered by other airlines to the markets it serves. Skybus reservations are offered exclusively on the web at http://www.Skybus.com.
“We’ve seen that every time a new group of reservations goes on sale, more and more people are attracted to our outrageously low fares and our expanding list of great destinations,†said Bill Diffenderffer, Skybus CEO. “We think the same thing will happen this time . . . especially now that we’re including the Spring break travel period and are offering more trips to more beach and vacation destinations.â€Â
Expanded service from Columbus beginning Jan. 6, 2008 will include:
A second daily nonstop between Columbus and Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, NC.
A third daily nonstop to increase winter service to Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers. The third flight will operate through March 31.
Skybus service to Bellingham, WA and one of two daily nonstops to Burbank, CA will be discontinued as part of the schedule adjustment, effective Jan. 6. Service to San Diego, CA will be discontinued effective March 7.
* Does not include taxes and fees of up to $7.90, and Sept. 11 Security Fee of $2.50
“Based primarily on the sharp increase in the cost of jet fuel, we needed to take a look at our scheduling strategy and find ways to use our fleet more effectively to serve more passengers in more cities,†Diffenderffer said.
“Within the next few weeks, we will be making significant announcements about even more service expansions that will strengthen and broaden our route structure to meet what has been heavier-than-expected demand,†Diffenderffer said.
Customers holding reservations on discontinued flights to Bellingham will be given full refunds. Passengers on the discontinued Burbank flights will automatically be rebooked on the remaining Skybus flight to Burbank, and will also be given the option to change their reservation without charge or request a refund. No seats have been sold to San Diego past March 6. so no San Diego passengers will be affected.
