Just heard from a friend who lives near N 4th st and E 1st Ave that there was a shooting at 1155 PM on 11/20/2011.
Sounds like it could have been between some characters at the Sunset Lounge. Said he heard at least 5 shots fired. Did this wake anybody else up? I guess cops are all over the place right now.

I couldn't agree more. How many more times does this need to happen before something is done? How many innocent bystanders need to catch bullets? Regardless of your beliefs on gentrification, this place is a safety hazard in the community and it needs to go.
Unfortunately, if it is shut down, the cretins may start becoming regulars at the St. James Tavern.

I don't know about shut down, but it would be great if someone were to buy it up, renovate and start charging higher prices. There are enough people in the area who would enjoy a clean neighborhood bar off of High street and would be willing to pay a little bit more to keep it clean and free from shootings. At least the police responded quickly, I called about a minute after I heard the shots and they were already on the way.

It's rumored that they have a ton of violations that have threatened their liquor license before. "Allegedly" this place was on a short list of bar's that had a high number of "incidents" (can't find the referring dispatch article) and that the ABC wasn't going to renew their license.

You're not thinking of the Exile are you because I thought their license was on the chopping block last year.
I don't remember the Sunset ever being on that list and being from WP I pay close attention when it comes out. I'm not sure the Sunset needs to be shut down but I do agree that the occasional gunfight out front isn't really necessary either.

I was just laying down to sleep last night when I heard the shots. It briefly occurred to me that they may have been gunshots, but to be honest, I'm not that familiar with the sound.
We just moved to Italian Village from Vic Village and I've been pleasantly surprised how quiet it is at night. Until this.
Really hope Sunset faces some serious consequences. Wouldn't bother me in the least if they were shut down.
