I have a pair of dress shoes that I need repaired and bit and possibly resoled. Anybody have recommendations for a shop to have this done?

5th Ave. in Grandview Shoe & Luggage Repair

Enchanted on 5th in Victorian Village does a nice job. Carl has had torn stitching repaired there a few times. They used to be across from Vic's Midnight Cafe, but they moved closer to High street, but still on 5th.

Definitely give Magic Shoes a shot - the guy does great work at pretty reasonable prices. It's 5th Avenue, just west of High Street on the north side of the street.

We're talking the same place. I may have the name wrong. Been a while since we've been there. So, if the OP lives in VV, just look for the shoe repair just west of High...Just want to be sure it's recognized that two people are recommending this same place :)

It's Enchanted Shoe Repair…the guy has squeezed quite a few extra years out of my boots.

+1 for Enchanted. We've taken a lot of shoes and boots there. They do a great job with leather.
It's also worth the time to take a new pair of shoes there and get the soles plated, to give them some extra protection and life if you want to keep them longer.

I take my stuff out to Hat and Sole in Bexley.

I bought some boot laces at Andersons the other day.

Maybe Enchanted Shoe Repair has gotten better? I had some less than satisfactory experiences there a few years ago. The people were nice but the craftsmanship was not up to my standards. I had a zipper replaced in one boot and was shocked when I got it back. The leather was torn and re-glued around the zipper opening and the zipper wasn't even sewn in straight. Another boot I brought there (a REALLY expensive Spanish pair) had the heel coming away from the sole and they put a screw through the inside to secure it but the screw wasn't flush, so every time I wear them I can feel the metal inside the boot. Not so good...

I would normally scream about the virtues of Jesse's Shoe Repair, but he is currently undergoing a business transition and will eventually be opening a valet service in a soon to be disclosed location. I absolutely adore Jesse and highly value all the repair work he's done to my Hobo purse. Hopefully I will have more news soon!
