BBC show. Must watch. Finally finished both seasons and can't wait for season 3. Bear in mind, seasons for this are 3 2 hour episodes, so its really like watching 6 movies. If you'd have told me a modern day updated Sherlock Holmes show before I watched this, I'd probably skip it...but so glad i didn't.

O dear God no. Can't American television leave something alone for once?
The BBC one is brilliant and amazing. If you've read Doyle's original works, they've done a great job modernizing Holmes while incorporating some fine little details.

Unforgiven is being re made by the Japanese.
I think that will actually be pretty good to awesome.

THAT is pretty brilliant, IMO. After so many westerns were based on Japanese originals.
This Lucy Liu catastrophe, not so much.

My wife and I killed all six episodes in a week. Last I checked Season 1 was on Netflix and PBS was streaming the second season their website. We already had an American modernized retelling of Sherlock Holmes. It was called House.

Have to admit, I enjoyed Elementary. Wasn't even ballpark of Sherlock good, and I think it would almost be better if they dropped the whole Sherlock Holmes thing out of it completely because other than the names there isn't much connection, but it was OK.

So its not good enough to start a new thread, but I'm actually really enjoying Elementary. I think the Sherlock Holmes tie in for the show could have just been left out and it'd probably be a more interesting show on its own though.

Don't they go to great lengths to explain and dumb down just about anything clever? I guess the BBC Sherlock and the Holmes character does that in general, but it seemed like this show's explanations were even less assuming of the viewer's intellect. I guess I shouldn't give a crap as it is all fiction, and deduction does nothing for unknown-unknowns.

It is somewhat dumbed down, and I still don't think the show is worth its own thread...
BUT...
The introduction of Moriarty last night was pretty well done and the inclusion of Vinnie Jones in anything makes me happy.
