ABOUT SHEPHERD PRODUCTIONS
Andy Batt, long-time Managing Director of MadLab Theatre & Gallery, founded Shepherd Productions due to a long-standing desire to present little-produced and unheralded classics like TITUS ANDRONICUS.
“Given that MadLab does not produced classic works, I wanted to start this side project to fulfill my desire to produce TITUS,” Batt said. “TITUS has such a bad reputation as being poorly-written. I think this is because of the ‘gore-factor’ of the play. People & historians have had a difficult time looking past that to see the wonderful writing, plot & conflict underneath. If this goes well, I plan to produce one classic, seldom-produced work per year. If this goes poorly, let’s just forget I ever mentioned it.”

Beloved Roman general Titus Andronicus has just defeated the Goth army, returning home with the Queen of Goths and her sons as Rome's reward. When the newly crowned emperor Saturninus chooses this captive to be his empress, she uses her new found status to exact revenge on Titus and his family. With gruesome acts of violence in almost every scene, William Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS enjoyed the same commercial success in the late 16th century that violent action and horror films enjoy today. Shepherd Productions brings you the rare opportunity to experience Shakespeare's most shocking tragedy, a tale of revenge that is rarely seen on the American stage.
