I know virtually nothing about the NBA but this can not be bad for Cleveland. The notoriety the Cavs will get next year will be through the roof. I am kind of excited to see how they do with him and King James. I guess tickets will be impossible to get.
I can't wait to read the tweets.
If LeBron's happy that's really all that matters...
Hope there's no feud like with Kobe and Shaq.
37-year-old O'NealIf he's got that much fight in him at 37, more power to him. LeBron and Shaq could be a powerful - almost lethal - combination.

Chef Symon may put an honorary Kobe beef on his menu for just for Shaq, along with the select cuts of offal.
Question is, would you, Walker, endure another *tedious* trip to Cleveland, even if he Twittered you?
Interesting.
I'm actually worried about this. At this point, O'Neal may well be getting past his prime. I'm worried about this turning into the same thing that Sergei Fedorov became for the Blue Jackets: a name to sell tickets that doesn't quite live up to the hype.
Then again, Ben Wallace is no spring chicken himself, and Sasha Pavlovic wasn't one of the lynchpins of the team this year. I'm wondering if the two of them together are over or under Shaq's salary; we needed to come down (we were basically out of cap room--in fact, I think we were paying luxury tax this past season). And, of course, it's no secret that we do need more of an inside presence. I'm just not sure that Shaq will provide that the way he did five years ago. He did play more games this past season than the few before that, but the last few years have been more forgettable than legendary for him.
It's pretty low risk considering what they gave up and the contract ends after the next season anyways. They will still have the cash available to sign LeBron and potentially other free agents.
Shaq is here for a playoff run and that's it. He can play some minutes and take a few nights off so he can stay healthy for the post season. I think they still need one more piece, but this really helps shore up their post defense and keeps the immobile, defenseless Z off the floor in crucial situations.
As long as Shaq's arthritic toe holds up, let him play another couple of seasons. Don't call him ancient since he's my age!
I guess Bill Russell and Kareem weren't available, so they went with the next oldest center.

Robert Parish is always my go-to old guy NBA player example...
Others have mentioned this, but this is a great trade even with Shaq's age because it's such a good value for what we give up. It's trading an offensive cripple and a guy who doesn't crack the rotation unless a couple guys are hurt in exchange for a center who is big enough to defend anybody in the post 1 on 1, and put up 19 and 8 last season. If we get most of what Shaq was able to put up last season, it will have been more than worth it. Plus, you know, butts in seats to see Shaq and LeBron together.
