Hey All - GlennB Here.
For those of you who know us, a friend and I have a small sound company geared toward EDM events and providing sound and production services for events around town. The business was really started out of my interest in the music and Dj culture, and along the way we've been able to help out a few friends here and there.
This past weekend, we provided additional sound and DJ gear (CDJ's mixers, monitors, etc.) for a Drum & Bass event at Outland (our first time at that venue). The event was hosted by Nate Scott (pretty sure that's the last name).
Nate mentioned he was concerned about attendance and a limited budget so we decided to discount our rates to help him out. Needless to say this would prove to be a big mistake.
Setting up for the vent was chaotic, and a lot more than we originally agreed to, but Ryan and I decided it would be a good idea to go the extra step and make sure the audio was as good as it could be - so we brought in additional PA at no additional cost to the promoter.
Five minutes after the scheduled end of the event (4:05 AM), one of our Pioneer DJM800 mixers was stolen. Someone likely slipped into a gear bag and walked out with it... with no regard for who it belonged to or the cost to replace it. This occurred between the time the last track was played, and when we arrived at 4:05 to load-out.
If you've ever had a piece of gear stolen or damaged, you can imagine the frustration of losing a $1500+ mixer... especially when renting it at $75.00 a pop takes quite a while to recoup the expense.
Making matters even worse, the promoter refused to come back to the venue and help recover the mixer or add information to the Police report that was filed (he dipped out right after the event and left quite a few people unpaid as I'm told)
Anyway, we're offering a $500.00 reward for the return of the mixer or the name of the person who has it (provided we can recover the gear).
The unit has "SWS" written in silver permanent marker on both sides (the mixer itself is black) and the upper right corner is scratched from earlier damage. The serial number is FEMP002416UC.
My apologies for the public appeal, but this is really a matter of principal. Ryan and I agree that it would be nice to continue to provide this kind of service, but not at a financial loss.
Any information or assistance would be appreciated. Send a private message, email, text or call with any information. No questions will be asked.
Kind Regards,
Glenn.
