Slow Food USA announces...
Columbus, OH and around the country
September 17, 2011
Cost: $5
One of the most common arguments heard in favor of industrialized agriculture and fast food is that those who are less well off cannot afford to eat well. On September 17, Slow Food USA will demonstrate that that just isn't true.
The organization has asked members and friends around the country to organize and prepare meals that cost no more than $5 as a way of demonstrating that good, clean, and fair food is accessible to everyone.
For many of you, this is an opportunity to demonstrate that good food can be had at every step of the socioeconomic ladder. It is, in short, an opportunity to help Slow Food take back the value meal.
For others, it is an opportunity to have a really outstanding $5 dinner—one that will make you forget about a quarter-pound burger and fries—and learn a bit about how it was prepared in the process.
Regardless of which category you fall into, go to the Slow Food USA website and sign up, either to prepare or to attend a dinner on the 17th. As an incentive, Slow Food Columbus has pledged to send Board members, senior members and friends to dinner with whoever signs up. So don't delay... we'd love to meet you and enjoy a healthy, inexpensive dinner together.
