sorry i don't know about the issues, perhaps it is the general labels being glorified loan sharks, i'm not sure, but i did want to post to say that scrawl is awesome, tape op is the best, especially their forum!!
it's only wikipedia, but:
"The following year the band was signed to the ill-fated Rough Trade Records U.S., for whom they released two albums, He's Drunk (produced by Jim Rondinelli) and Smallmouth (produced by Gary Smith).... When Rough Trade U.S. filed for bankruptcy in 1990, the band was forced to bid for their master recordings at auction during the label's Chapter 11 proceedings. Fortunately, they succeeded. Their next release, a seven-track EP called Bloodsucker, was released on the Chicago-based Feel Good All Over label (then reissued on Simple Machines Records).

*The Bloodsucker EP was recorded with Albini.
Stop by Marcy's new bar the Ace of Cups and see her, she'll give you the scoop. Gretchen could too (Gretchen works Sundays). Ace is open Tues-Sun 4pm-close, excellent draughts and vodka infusions (coconut, rosemary, vanilla bean and more), good food, free parking, ping pong and excellent conversation with so many of Columbus' rock icons. They now have three different Barley's tap handles, get in there for your Cbus rock history lesson!
