The weather, and being a one car family again, has inspired me to get another scooter. I think I want to go all out and get a side car for the dog (soon to be dogs) this time. Anyone have any leads on that?

A few us were at MotOhio European Motorbikes on E. Main yesterday and they had a whole bunch of Vespa and Piaggio scooters out and ready to go. They also have BMW, Ducati, Triumph, and Husqvarna.
Some of the scooters were really cool. Theres a bunch of scooter places to shop at around here though so look around.

Any sidecars?

I didn't notice any. My attention was focused on other things.

Heres one in Mississippi: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Restored-Vespa-with-Sidecar-5-Port-Motor_W0QQitemZ320234803354QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320234803354
Also, I think you can order a Stella with a sidecar from GenuineScooters.com.
Here you can order just the sidecar for $1900: http://www.scooterworks.com/Sidecar__Cozi_8_inch_Rocket_Style_P3919.cfm

Also, you KNOW that I brought up the scooter from the basement yesterday and much to my surprize it fired right up!
Scootering down to the North Market is one of my favorite warm weather things ever.

We were just talking about this at Warehouse Saturday, while I think a motorcycle would spell doom for me...I do want a scooter.

Gets better gas mileage than a motorcycle. I love my motorcycles, and would never be without one - but scooters are just ridiculously fun.
If you saw me out yesterday, I was ripping down alleys - standing up riding thru puddles and doing mini wheelies, all with a big shit eating grin on my face. You couldn't miss me.

I think I saw you on high yesterday. You have a vino (or something like it) right?
I've been watching that Mississippi one. If I had somewhere to work on it, I would get the red on that is way cheaper. There is a great deal on a stella with sidecar for 3500 I found in Illinois, but it's pink so...

Yep. Now that we know we're going to stay put in Columbus, we're going sell one car and get a scooter.

Yeah, a Vino 50. I got it last year for something ridiciluous like $750. Doesn't even have 1k miles on it. Cheap, reliable, lightweight, very low maintenance, amazing gas milage, insanely convenient. I could fit like five bags of ice or three cases of pbr on the floor of that puppy.
A sidecar would extremely limit your parking options though you know.
They do make those "cages" you can affix to your scooter much like a tail bag for dogs depending on the size.

If you have a vintage scooter that needs work, my husband fixes them as a sideline. His day job is repairing European high end autos at Specialty Sports Cars, but he loves scooters and has several 2 wheeled vehicles (as well as a flock of microcars). PM me and I'll send you our phone number.

I bought/am in the process of buying a mint green Genuine Stella. It has less than 100 miles on it and I got a great deal.
Mint green wasn't my color of choice, but it'll suffice. I think I'm going to airbrush pics of my cats on the fenders. I seriously can't wait much longer to take possession.

With scooters I'm definately more function over form. If it was up to me, I'd paint it with rattle can black bedliner a la Captain Janks for ultimate durability.

Heres a local sidecar scooter for sale:
http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/634208274.html
Not sure, but I would think this is at least $3000 overpriced.

Sorry I have no leads for the sidecar, you could try posting on the cutter board or on the local threads on modernvespa.
Other people interested in buying a scooter, here is my page with the stores listed: http://scooterfan.wordpress.com/where-to-buy-in-columbus/
Your best bet (if buying new) are the 3 big scooter options in town, with other more motorcycle focused stores (like the Hilliard place) being another option.

How much do decent scooters run, either new or used? I used to have a mini bike, but the police took it, it was a lot of fun.
