Just got word from the mayor's office that, starting Monday, you'll need a permit to park a scooter, moped or motorcycle in the 23 non-metered, on-street locations set up last year.

$50!? DAMN! Can I get some lube with that buttrape?

Yeah, that seems a little steep. It's weird: I've gotten several emails from out-of-town people who want to come to Columbus for scooter/motorcycle events. I wonder if this would be a deterrent.

I don't get the quotes there.

Well that blows. I'll just park at a meter instead & take up the whole space that a car would otherwise use.

Personally, I don't think $50/year is steep at all for daytime parking in and around downtown.
Keep in mind that after-hours parking in these zones is still free, just like in the evenings when meters are off and not enforced.
And having these scooter parking zones does not prevent two-wheelers from using existing meter spaces or parking lots/garages that have two-wheeler parking space. If you only need to park downtown a few times a year, you don't HAVE to buy a $50 pass. You can just park at a meter and pay by the hour like everyone else.

lol internet tough guy
My thoughts exactly.

@ Turbo Ninja– ooh, nothing like a bad-ass parking enforcer…on the internet no less. of course, you would only have the balls to do something like that when the owner wasn't around. I'd love to see you get caught though…or try to explain to the police why your conduct would be justified.

Really? because I don't remember reading that, but that is awesome! I won't need a permit if that is true!
TN, why would you knock someone's bike over? I don't get that. I mean sure, I always kick in bicycle tires to bend the rims when they are hitched to garbage cans and light posts, but laying over a motorcycle, that's just wrong. ;)
if you really are against bikes on sidewalks report it to the police, 2 wrongs do not make a right.

I just assumed he had a scooter/motorcycle and that comment was a joke.

If I ever park on the sidewalk I make sure it does not impede foot traffic and I get the permission of the land or business owner it is in front of.
I will agree that you just can't park where ever you want.Posted 3 years ago # -

(I don't park on the sidewalks, BTW…it just feels "wrong" to me. I'd never knock someone's bike over though, unless maybe I was handicapped & it was illegally blocking my access & I was in a bad mood)

and I thought Garage Bar actually encourages such deviance!

I will agree that you just can't park where ever you want.I will amend my earlier statement to agree w/ lifeliberty. for example, the owner of the Garage Bar specifically invited me to park my bike on the sidewalk in front of his establishment. If someone were to then knock it over…then I just don't know where they'd be coming from.

Ghaaa! I just can't type fast enough.

didn't you park on the sidewalk at wild goose creative for some CU event? maybe wasn't yours, but there was a cycle out there.
i just don't see a prob with cycles and scoots leaving more space on the street for cars as long as they don't impede traffic
