Opening ceremony of the
Scioto Hilltop Connector Bridge and
Harper/Eureka Bike Improvements
Friday, August 12 at 1:00 pm

Ceremony at the intersection of Mckinley Ave. and Harper Rd.

Join us as we open two new additions to the expanding trails and street cycling networks that provide new access to the Scioto Trail and the West side of our city.

The event takes place at the intersection of Mckinley Ave. and Harper Rd
(approximately 2.5 miles west of downtown).
Refreshments provided!

I have a friend who works in Grandview and wants to buy an inexpensive house instead of paying rent. He bikes a lot and I am wondering if the area of the hilltop near the new connector would be decent place for him to buy a house? Zillow seems to show the prices as pretty reasonable. I am also wondering if that path would be usable in the winter?

Valleyview is self-incorporated - there are (I think) 3 cops that patrol the area, keeping a lid on stuff. I don't know anyone that lives over there, but I would live over there. The area between Valleyview (S), N Hague (E), Richardson (W) and the RR tracks is particularly decent. There are some very sweet houses over there, interesting mix of old to stuff built in the 70's.

The Olentangy and Alum Creek trails are plowed in the winter. This lower scioto trail is incomplete until a project East of Grandview Ave that will connect it to Downtown. ODOT is doing this section in 2012. I don't think this trail will be on winter maintenance until that section is done, but that's just my inkling, I have not been told that by anyone official. This bridge makes Westgate accessible by bicycle too. The Steele Ave Bike Blvd leads right to the bridge (via Eureka Ave). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westgate,_Columbus,_Ohio

I enjoyed a trip over to Grandview today over the new bridge. (I can't wait for the completion of this trail into Downtown)
Does anyone know if any plans exist for the trail end at Grandview & 670 interchange? The road from the trail up to the light at Dublin rd appears in need of repaving and sidewalk/ramps.

The new bridge is great. Though I'm not a huge fan of the ridges in the concrete/just like the Broad street bridge. So over all Yay!- New bridge to get to Grandview.

The Scioto Hilltop Connector Bike Bridge Opens to The Public

The Scioto Hilltop Connector Bridge officially opened up to the public with a ceremony earlier this afternoon. This new bike bridge is a part of the larger Bicentennial Bikeways Plan that is adding 540 miles of bike paths, bike lanes, shared lane markings and more.
