Maybe this is old news, but you can rent the Schwartz Castle at 490 S. Third St. Click to metro-rentals.com for more info.
In short:
"This is a 5000 Sq. foot, 3 bedroom, 3 bath penthouse, freshly renovated as of October 2007. Luxury amenities include ballroom, private elevator and private movie theater. Antique doors, intercom system throughout, original mosaic floors and wrought iron spiral staircase, leading to the sky view deck, are just a few of the hundreds of amenities and features. Lease for $5,900/month, no pets. Purchase options are available."

It was for sale not too long ago. I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay $5,900 in rent for it. Why not just buy it? :shock:

definitely old news... a few years ago it was for rent for 4000 a month. if i was rich, id rent it for sure.
ive heard a few stories about that place, one being that there was a murder or a few murders in there in like the 1920s.
another story is that it has like 5 levels of basements, but they have been sealed off (possibly related to the murders?)

I live right across the street from that place. If they can't rent it, I would totally be agreeable to watching over the place for them for a small fee. :wink: I definitely need a place with a ballroom and elevator.

I was thinking of trying to get like 20 people to just move in with me. We could put 10 or so bunkbeds in like one room and have the ultimate party house. Like the ultimate party house of all time.

Dude, that would be the best year of my life. The main reason why I want to move there is as follows.
Scene opens late in the evening during the first warm day of summer at Club 185...
Me: "Alright, get some to-go beer. I'm having after hours."
Attractive young people nearby: "Oh, cool. Where do you live?"
Me: "In the Schwartz fucking Castle!"

I wish I hadn't just rented the place I'm in now. I'm hardly here and $250 for my share of the castle would be awesome.
Perhaps I pick up some part time work to cover that each month and be part of the experience.
I want to be able to say that when I was 28 I lived in a castle.
