Okay...my girlfriend and i want to move in here sometime during the winter and i read this whole thing and it went like this....bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, good, good, good, good, good, good, bad, bad, bad. Its true that anywhere you go it can be dangerous but we also have a one year old son and we also have to think about him. I want the honest truth from people that live there. We aren't rich people and this is honestly an offer that my girlfriend and i can't pass up but its not worth our safety or our son's.
Thank you!

reread the post. the bad is based on knowlege of the area and its history, the good is based on optimism and rainbows(and unicorns).

Thank you!If you have a small child, you would be much better off looking at an NCR or CPO property.

So glad I found this thread. A friend of ours was looking into renting here in the Winter and now we will tell him to steer clear. They are marketing it toward prospective OSU grad students now. I guess they figure they can sell it mostly sight unseen and as an easy dormlike existence for a busy grad student.
He told me how nice it seemed with everything taken care of.
Unless things have changed, I will break the bad news.

Skyview Towers is a great value - heat is included - the building has been rehabed. The area is improving, etc. It's not a family or children friendly place, but for an OSU grad student - the location and value is awesome...second to none. If I was working on my Masters at OSU and on a budget, with limited resources and income - this would be at the top of the list - it ain't perfect and you need to be carefull, but for the money, value and location - it's a deal and a steal! Good luck in your search!

How is that location awesome for an OSU grad student? It's in an area with nothing to do, and a 40 minute bus ride from campus. There is a ton of cheap housing with utilities included in the campus area that would be walking distance from anything they'd ever want to do.

It's better for CSCC/CCAD students...

No idea on the quality. I just meant in terms of proximity to schools.

run a crime report online over the past 3 months..6 months or year...this will speak volumes about this hell hole. Also keep in mind for every crime reported many go unreported to police as "on site security" takes reports and literally discourages residents from filing reports with CPD. From domestic violence to prescription pill theft to drug dealing and overdosing SkyView Towers has it all.
A female was found overdosing on heroin laying in one of the elevators a few months ago.The manager is a drug addict with mental problems who has been in several altercations with residents, both physical and verbal.
She has also hired her drug addict daughter to do work on the property doing odd jobs such as "landscaping" and her daughters young son to do work as well instead of hiring a professional company. Also corporate management is just as shitty as on site management. The only saving grace in the office is Cindy.
Run away as fast as you can this place isn't suitable for anyone but drug addicts, thieves, and criminals so that they may congregate. I won't even begin to speak on the ghetto of apartments on the back side of the fence...UNBELIEVEABLE! The office will tell you those apartments aren't subsidized but they most certainly are. Children unattended all hours of the day and night, people fighting, screaming and yelling, crimes occuring on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. For your own good and for the good of those you care about PLEASE stay away from these apartments.
Also keep in mind over the past 2-3 weeks there have been 5+ shootings in the area as reported on the news. You can't sacrifice saving a few dollars over your safety, sanity, or peace of mind.
As I said before the crime reports speak for themselves and it's only getting worse.Posted 5 months ago # -
That's too bad after all the money they put into renovations...or did they not put in as much as they claimed?? Sounds like nobody gives a crap about their investment.

and this:

honestly there is no hope for this place and regional mgt is well aware of the problems...they even sent out "questionnaires" via usps asking for feedback. No changes have been made..Nothing has been done. Crime is RAMPANT. No exaggeration. The cleaning ladies are great, and Cindy the rental agent. As for the rest?? from corporate mgt on down are garbage. The gates that are "controlled" people wait until residents come through the entrance gates then 5 cars full of people will drive right through...or enter into the property by the exit gate once a resident leaves. Also its easy enough for people to hop the gates(as they do) and just walk onto the property. As someone said before the boyfriends, girlfriends, guests both wanted and unwanted only add to the problem. Nearly every time my male friends enter someone is looming around and are asking them if they have drugs..it's pure craziness and chaos. No fence is high enough to keep crime out...especially when 95% of it is coming from within[u] it's a very scary thing living here. Concrete prison indeed, and our warden friends aren't nice either. imo i cannot wait to leave.Posted 5 months ago # -
very disappointing

i hope you get out of there
but honestly, what did you really expect from this area?

We went and looked at it. It really does seem like a big housing project. They definitely appear to have gone to a large number of section 8 rentals. As people are saying there were eviction notices on doors and people just hanging out in the halllways. I would not live here unless I had absolutely no other choices. It will be hard to really make changes in this depressed area with a large anchor building like Skyview weighing it down.

As long as Section 8 vouchers pay way more than market rate this will continue. There is absolutely no incentive for the owners do to otherwise.

I've been reading this thread while considering getting a 6 month lease at Skyview because I am a student at CSCC with a very limited budget and a dog. I was very skeptical at first, because of the location and bad reviews online.. but when I checked it out it didn't seem too bad. Sure there are shady people once in a while, but 75% of the tenants have been nice and friendly to me and my dog. I've only been here a week, so if anything bad pops up, I'll post it! But for now, my experience at Skyview and Columbus State have been good for the price!
