We had dinner at San-Su last night and it was amazing! Excellent food and great staff. Has anyone else eaten here? If so, how was your experience?

Had the Spicy cabbage soup...HOT! (Kim chee Ji Gae) Great deal with the 10 little dishes of ban chan. Read about this dish in ALIVE on March 3. Look forward to trying the cooktop in the booth for do it yourself meat cooking. Very inexpensive wine pricing glass/bottle

Dammit. I went there specifically for the kimchi jigae after reading the same review, and it not only didn't resemble the photo but it didn't even come close to pegging my heat meter. It was fine, reasonably sour, not especially complex... but I was really kind of disappointed with the heat in particular. I wonder whether it varies depending on what night you go?

Bear, I like HOT and it had me reaching for tissues on a constant basis. (I was there around 3 pm on a weekday). I have certainly had hotter meals, but for the cost and the amount of food I was satisfied. The only thing that I found not the same in the photo was the strands of what appear to be bean sprouts on top...the ALIVE photo may have taken the bean sprouts on the side and added them on top...who knows.
I TOOK in the ALIVE paper with the photo...wonder if that made a difference?

We were there last weekend and the Kim chee Ji Gae was mild at best. I still liked it, but remarked to my wife that it reminded me of a cabbage roll soup. Maybe it was rushed?
Everything else was great, we had fun and will go back.

See, that's what I'm sayin'. I was a little puzzled when mine came out sort of a pumpkin orange color; I remember the photo in the Alive!, and it was fire-engine red.

Well, I'm re-hashing this thread. I finally tried San-Su and came away impressed. Good food and good service.
As for Kimchi-Ji Gae, I think the spiciness depends on the ripeness of the Kimchi itself. I don't think they make their own kimchi there so there could be a big discrepancies between batches.

Interesting. I had a client in yesterday who was raving about this place. I've been craving some good Korean so I'm gonna have to check this out.
