The City of San Francisco, California last night became the first in the nation to outlaw toys in children's restaurant meals that contain more than a certain number of calories, sugar, and fat. The law, called the "Happy Meal Ban" by many because it would forbid most varieties of the popular McDonald's kid's meal that has become synonymous with toy-bearing children's meals, was passed last night by an 8-3 margin by San Francisco's Board of Supervisors. The measure was opposed by San Francisco's mayor but passed the board of Supervisors with a veto-proof margin.
