I really like this by Salvador Dali (I love his work). He has some other works with live people and I just think it is cool. Are there any other artists doing something similar? I know that Phillipe Halsman took photos after his drawings, but I really think they are cool. When I was at the musuem I did not see anything about this and it is not in my book and I am struggling to find out more online. Mighty Mighty or someone.....do you know anything about these Dali works?

I believe there was a serial killer who framed his victims after Dali works, you could always buy the crime scene photos...

The piece with the flying cats and water was not done with photoshop just his creative trippy mind and the photographer being very gifted as well. I think Dali is really fantastic but want to know more about the live people situations. The woman as a desk is just the coolest thing to me.....I wish this were my "desk job"....

Woman as desk, I know of some feminist arguments regarding women=object. ;) anyway.
I know not a thing, I was never much interested in surrealism.
But, I have some friends that started the post neo-absurdist movement, here in Columbus, & it's now a kind-of international movement (especially in England), look up Warren Fry, Bradley Chriss, or the grand poobah himself Olchar Lindsann. I know they all do performance art, Olchar especially, if anyone prowled the SN in the late 90's and early 00's you may have spotted them.
Now, I have to post Bradley and the meat poem, cos I loves it.

Holy crap I just had a girl flip out last night because I set this picture as my wallpaper and got in a big argument about what constitutes "art". To be fair, my previous desktop was the old somethingawful "OH THE HUGE MANATEE" pic so I may have gotten off easy.

It is totally art!!! It reminds me of Cirque Du Soleil or like maybe the live version of something Gustav Klimt would do....I am so intrigued by his work.....

there is a dali museum in florida. i don't remember where but my mom brought me to it when i was in high school, it's somewhere near sarasota.
it has a great collection of his work.
there are artists that do surrealistic work with live models i can't think of names off the top of my head, but i'll think about it and get back to you. it's hard for me to match visuals with names and google image search isn't bringing up what i'm thinking of.

Ha... I totally went to school with those dudes. Good guys.
For Enzo: Check out Rene Clair, Germaine Dulac, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray, and one of my personal favorites..... Georges Melies. I have a set of his surrealist early movies... they are a ton of fun....

It's in St. Petersburg. I went there a few years ago and was surprised by how "normal" the artwork was there. They do have some of his classic surrealist pieces, but lots of his other stuff was a little less awe-inspiring.
