Rust Belt brewery owners look to grow

The popularity of Rust Belt Brewing Co. has grown so much since the brewery’s debut in late 2008 that its owners say it is time to expand. Ken Blair, Daniel McCarthy and Nick Rosich, founders and owners of the Youngstown-based microbrewery, have launched a campaign to raise $30,000 to outsource some of its production to a contract brewer, revamp its human-intensive bottling process and expand into new markets.

Youngstown brewery Rust Belt enters Columbus market Written

Beers from Youngstown-based brewery Rust Belt Brewing Company are now available in Central Ohio. Rust Belt has been brewing for about four years out of the historic B&O Railroad Station in Youngstown. Their current beer lineup includes Rusted River Irish Red Ale, Blast Furnace Blond Ale, Coke Oven Stout, Old Man Hopper’s IPA and Peacemaker Imperial IPA.

Rust Belt was available in our area before but it wasn't well received and distribution ceased. Hopefully the beer is better or they're at least able to better connect with their fan base from NE Ohio.

ROFL When I first saw the thread title, I thought this would be an article about all Rust Belt breweries, not just Rust Belt Brewery. After all, there have been a lot of growing breweries in this state (and region) of late, as the recent expansion of the North Market Craft Beer Festival beyond the ability of North Market to hold indoors testifies. One of our real growth industries, to the delight of my taste buds and the dismay of my waistline.

Rust Belt is decent stuff. I've had two of theirs, which I think were the Coke Oven stout and the Old Man Hopper IPA.
