Wow, who would have thought that the date that my paternal grandmother died would one day win me a prize...

I find it interesting that some of the people who commented in this thread about how sad they are to see a restaurant like this close, are the same ones who eagerly participated in guessing the dates in which these restaurants would see their demise. Seems pretty two-faced to me. It's a shame to see anyone's hard work be for naught.Guessing when the barrel goes over the falls is not the same as pushing the barrel into the water. The guy in the barrel got in there all by himself.
However, I see your point, which is why I personally just could not bring myself to place a bet.
Most of us were huge supporters and regulars of the place in the last year and really hoped the place would turn itself around.

The signs of demise were readily apparent when I engaged in this sardonic enterprise. I am genuinely sorry to see Rosendales, as it was initially configured, go out of business. The demise of Details is also quite lamentable. Both had ambitions to do something different than exists in Columbus and our dining scene is a lot pooer for their departure.
What causes the enjoyment is the way in which some ex-employees were treated.

Right now most of the liquor is piled up on the bar counters. I saw some tweaker on the phone in front of there the other day while some guys inside were fiddling with the liquor. Not sure what's going down.
The whole thing feels a little cloak and dagger.

Rich Rosendale was on CBS today, he's representing the USA at this month's Bocuse d'Or finals in France and the story was about how the Greenbrier built him an exact replica of the French competition kitchen, it's below ground in a cold war era Undisclosed Location. He's practicing every day with his 21 y/o assistant, they didn't say who's test-driving Rosendale's sample meals.
Wonder if he ever thinks about us?
