Naah, Deepwood has Catherine.
Let's see. Doesn't already have a talented somm/beverage manager and needs one... can afford to bring one on right now... popular with CU crowd...
Aha! 3rd and Hollywood.

The only reason left to go to this "restaurant" is no more. Peeps in the wine biz tell me that Somm Extra-ordinaire Chris has left. Can't blame him. From my experience the other night, management leaves him hanging in the wind with not re-stocking items listed.
Any more takers for this dead pool?Andrew Hall wrote

They made it past the first date... Labor Day is next.
They were packed tonight when we walked by. Looks like I'm out :)
Went to Details over the weekend and had a bad experience. Ended up leaving there before our food came. It took more than a hour to get a cheese plate and the drink menu is about half of what it used to be.

I'm sorry Merc. I know this past weekend, either Friday night or Saturday night, Stephon was the ONLY person working at Details. As in, serving all tables upstairs and down, AND making all the drinks, AND busing all the tables. Matty & Phil both quit a couple weeks ago and so Stephon is now also doing inventory and everything else it takes to run a freaking business.
I think, at this point, overtaxed Stephon is going to be the standard. I'm so sorry. He's an extraordinary person, very gracious, and very dedicated, but he just doesn't have any support whatsoever.
I get so sad whenever I see this thread. The gal who portrayed my daughter in a play this summer will be 21 in February (yes, she's almost young enough to actually be my child) and I'd hoped to take her to Details for a real cocktail for her birthday. This seems less and less likely.

Okay, that last part makes me happy again!
Man, at this rate I can kiss my reward from Andrew goodbye :( Good luck to all the October picks!!
Little bird tells me that Rosendales is done. I rode by last night and details was closed at 12:30am Not sure what is normal for them.
I'll probably run by tomorrow and confirm the closing.
This place always seemed "off" to me. I think the view from the street gives the impression of an overly formal dining experience. It looked boring, in short, and the "3 food related businesses in one locale" seemed confusing and overly ambitious from a money-making POV.
Just saw a few more secondhand "confirmations"("x told me") trickle in. The VM message still says they're open, but that probably means nothing.
If they've closed then Hegemo won the deadpool and got himself a bottle of plonk from Mr. Hall. :-)
Assuming this is official, congrats to Hegemo. PM me to arrange your prize and tell me what you like in wine.
Just a couple days and I would have won my own pool. Considering that I said 'They will be closed by Halloween' while sitting there the night before, I think I can be immeasurably snide at my prognosticatory powers.
It is a shame though. When the restaurant started out, there was nobody else with that level of ambition for a restaurant. I hoped that R's success would push the market to build on that and do better in the areas where R fell short. Obviously the economy played a role, but the restaurant's own practices significantly contributed. The Columbus dining scene is worse off for this.

Nobody is surprised but I think most are a little depressed by this news if it's true. One of my favorite foodie memories was at Rosendale's with Rockmastermike, Andrew Hall and Dr. Elena. I think we ate and drank for six hours. Details was where Rockmastermike and I celebrated New Year's as well as out most recent anniversary. Damn.
Bah! A most curious interpretation of "not going over the date" (if I do say so myself).
Regardless, agreed. The failure of the venture is a real loss to the city. All the more tragic because so many parts of it were right -- star chef, star staff, top people, great location.
I walked by there today and it was closed, which is not abnormal, but it seemed empty. Usually there were utensils and glasses on the tables. Today there were none.

I think this improved a little when they added that little side patio.
Just got the official press release a few minutes ago:
I find it interesting that some of the people who commented in this thread about how sad they are to see a restaurant like this close, are the same ones who eagerly participated in guessing the dates in which these restaurants would see their demise. Seems pretty two-faced to me. It's a shame to see anyone's hard work be for naught.
