Is anyone interested in going to this at Barley's Smokehouse? It's on January 17th and tickets are on sale. I'm a little wary of haggis but the English major in me is interested in the whole cultural aspect.

They are going to have haggis?
:D
How much are tickets?
Posted 3 years ago # -
Tickets are $55 a person. That may seem a little steep but it includes entertainment (bagpipes and dramatic reading), a full dinner which seemed to include haggis if I saw the pictures correctly as well as the tapping of the Robert Burns Ale. January 25th marks the 250th anniversary of the poet's birth (and the day after my own birthday), so it seems to be incredibly fitting to celebrate the original author of "Auld Lang Syne" and "O, My Luve's Like a Red Red Rose".

Correction: Bagpipes and haggis and Scotch.
Event description follows.
Robert Burns would have been 250 years old on Janury 25. We'll be celebrating his life and times, as we always do, with a four course extravaganza including haggis, scotch egg garnished salad, entree, dessert and an assortment of single malt scotches for toasting (and of course, Robert Burns Scottish Export Ale!) If you've ever attended, you know that there is a liberal dose of Rabbie's poetry, baudy and otherwise, recited by all of us. Start researching the perfect poem that you'll read to the group.

I'm in. Do we need to buy tickets together?

No, but since it's the Barley's near where I live, I am willing to buy tickets for people I trust to pay me back (i.e. I know where they live). You're in that particular bracket. PM me if you need me to do so!

A blog/review of this year's event. Maybe keep it in mind for next year. It sells out fast.
