I've always wanted to cook on my engine block. Saw this on Extreme Chef recently, winning dish was made with shrimp. Thirteen hours? You could cook a pot roast or osso bucco! A few recipes here, but you could Google some too.

You could read the latest electronic edition of Columbus Alive on your smart phone and find out what's going on in the city this weekend.

Audio books.
Word search/crossword puzzle books.
Highway bingo.
Podcasts - Jordan Jesse Go! is a good one.

Maybe it's just because I have small kids, but I find the best way to make a long trip bearable is to take frequent stops --restaurants, parks, tourist attractions, museums, etc. If you take a few backroads along the way, you can really get a great feel for the local flavor of different areas.
Of course, that makes the total time on the road much longer.
If you really want to gun it straight through, I suggest good music and a large supply of interesting conversational topics.

Load up some rad music on your iPod, and get a couple sets of these. They're fun. :)

Pick up a new language. At least that's my plan. I got a road trip in August and plan to get through 10 hours of audio CDs to learn me some Italian.

You could listen to the Hardcore History podcast with Dan Carlin. He just finished a 6 part series about the fall of the Roman empire. The first episodes are 1 to 1 1/2 hours, and he just completed the series with a 5 1/2 hour epic podcast. That should fill the great majority of your ride.

Depending on where you're coming from you might want to be careful of smart phone data usage in remote areas where you switch to roaming. I just recently got hammered by roaming charges going through the Adirondacks for a couple small data packets (scenic drives don't often correlate to easy wireless access).
