You know, I don't even like hockey...but the beauty of this is something even I can appreciate. If you haven't seen it, what is probably the goal of the year for the NHL...

One of the greatest goals in Hockey in a long time...

He scored a hat trick in today's NHL all star game. Probably would have been MVP had his team won. Also scored 12 seconds into the game, fastest goal in all star game history. Guy's on a roll. He LeClaire and Zherdev are carrying the Blue Jackets this year.

I think they are going to make the playoffs this year... I think they can taste it now, and the team is getting a little hungry. After years of being in the toilet, that can take its toll.
The thing is... while Nash and Zherdev are the two outstanding players this year, there's other guys that are really making a difference too. Their defensive play has been really tough, and with LeClair playing out of his mind... one goal has been all it takes to win a game. Granted, I think we'd all be happier with fearful offense, but I think that's starting to come, as that clip indicates.
They came back from a 2-0 deficit in, I think it was Dallas, last week... the first time I have ever seen them play back from being down like that. I can't TELL you how happy it makes me to be cheering for a team that plays the thrid period.
I'm just stoked that I played the odds this year, and got some of my tickets for the end of the season this year... because this year, they are going to be good, important games.

Agreed! I've got some darn good seats in a couple of weeks when they play the capitals and I have box seats for Tuesday night's game, so I get to welcome them home after they finally had a good road trip. Finally, some exciting second half season games!

Careful with the playoff predictions. We're second in the division right now, but less than four points separated the second-best from the second-worst in the division. Plus we're 9th in the league, so we need to move up at least one more spot to get into the playoffs (while holding everyone else off), and if we don't move up past 8th (i.e., to 7th), we'd get stuck playing Detroit in the first round as a team who's never been in the playoffs before.
Make up your own mind about whether that would be David vs. Goliath or Bambi vs. Godzilla.

^^ True enough, but if anybody is the master of blowing it in the playoffs, the Red Wings take the cake.
On another note, I really need to get some tickets for this season.

Also: Rick Nash may be the most fun to watch, but Pascal Leclaire is the biggest reason we're in playoff contention right now.
Nash is the most likely to get an ESPY, though.

I disagree.. each have positively contributed to the CBJ's relative success this season, but it is a team game.

True. Also, this is the longest time Nash has been healthy, so I think we're just now seeing how good he is.
I'd rank Zherdev up there on the "most fun" to watch list, as well as Russel, Boll and Foote. Overall, we've got a young team and they're only getting better with some help from the veterans. Pascal's been playing really well this season, but the entire team has stepped up and played some awesome defense that helps him get those shutouts.
Will we make the playoffs, though? Dunno, but we have a really good shot at keeping ahead of, if not distancing ourselves from, nashville, st. louis and chicago.

There's where we get help from other teams. We can't beat them, but other teams don't seem to have that problem ;)

And Nash continues to shine on the big stage -- a hat trick in Sunday's All-Star game, including a goal 12 seconds in, and the tying goal in the second period.
And yet... Staal was the MVP of the game.
Between that and the absence of Leclaire at the All-Star game, and I might become a conspiracy theorist yet...
