The prior owner of the Jury Room released 1500 gift certificates to Restaurant.com just a few days before selling the business. This equals roughly $37k in free food! Unfortunately, due to the high volume of gift certificates released, we are unable to afford to honor these gift certificates. We apologize for any inconvenience and understand that Restaurant.com will refund the gift certificates if any were purchased.
I have been trying to reach Restaurant.com since November with no luck. I've left repeated voicemail and email messages that have gone unreturned. To avoid any further confusion, Jury Room posted a Facebook post this morning warning customers that we are unable to accept the gift certificates.
After seeing the post this morning, I finally (four months later) got a call from a representative at Restaurant.com named Michael. He tells us that due to the FB post, he cannot remove the gift certificates from the Restaurant.com. I assured him that we will be happy to remove the FB post as soon as Restaurant.com removes the deceptive gift certificates from the site. He refused to do so.
In any case, Restaurant.com is still releasing and accepting money for worthless gift certificates even though they are aware we are not accepting them.
If you do purchase online gift certificates, we urge you to buy from Fudha.com or Dine Originals Columbus or any reputable company.
This is the not the first complaint we have received about Restaurant.com's poor policies and practices that are damaging to both restaurants and the public.
My deepest and sincerest apologies for any problems this causes our customers. If there were any way we could afford to honor the certificates, we certainly would. Right now, we are trying to keep our staff paid and head above water. We urge you to refund your gift certificates at Restaurant.com and let them know how you feel about their deceptive, misleading and unprofessional business practices.
