Coming from someone who loves video games, even the Resident Evil series, I don't get the attraction of these movies at all. They've always looked so bad to me. Why do they keep making 5 sequels to movies like this and Underworld. If Mila isn't trotting around in an orange ribbon with a multi-pass, no thank you.
Maybe I'm too old :)

I watched the first one and *maybe* the second movie? But yeah, I'm not sure of the appeal anymore. They strayed from the video games quite a bit, so why even share a title? That trailer looks like an action movie, and nothing about it says "zombies" to me.
The dialogue of the RE games has always been corny, but if the atmosphere and mood of the earlier true survival horror games could be captured in film, I'd consider watching it.

Wow, that looks awful haha. These RE movies are getting worse and worse. The first one was actually enjoyable and felt somewhat connected to the games. And these assholes in Hollywood wonder why people pirate their movies.
Silent Hill was a surprisingly good video game movie I thought. The serious and dark tone of that movie should've been the blueprint for the RE movies.

If you're looking for a good scare, look into the new low-budget horror movie called V/H/S that's getting tons of rave reviews at Sundance. It's filmed in different segments by six different directors.
