Hopefully this is more like 4, and less like 5:

Agreed. Just watched the trailer. Looks good. Would be cool if it were open-world I.E. Arkham City.
Open-world games are fun, but I don't know if that's a good fit for the RE universe. To me, the survival horror genre works best when there are constraints to movement and visibility. RE has achieved this in the past through fixed camera angles and character controls that moved slowly like tanks.
For me, RE5 was already too "open-world" which turned it into a run-and-gun action game. Any scares were done through cheap "gotcha" scares. There was no sense of dread. No atmosphere.
Not that RE4 was overly scary compared to some of the earlier games, but I think they managed to perfectly balance that atmosphere with third-person camerawork.
The RE6 trailer looks like 2 different games. The first half looks dark and dreadful with Leon Kennedy in charge. The second half looks like Gears of War with Chris Redfield. Is it possible that I could only buy the first half of the game? ;)
LOVED 4. Played 5 for an hour or two and then traded it in.
Good points. I did play both to the end but I liked the older ones (IE Codename Veronica) best.
I think it's neat that they're bringing back the classic zombie, instead of those Pellagras things.
The logo looks exactly like a giraffe getting a blow job from a woman.
I'm stoked for this even though I feel the RE franchise is moving towards more of a 3rd person Gears of War type of abomination with zero scares.
Yeah, RE4 was great and was creepy at times (sucked towards the end at the military base level though), but RE5 was probably the least scary out of the series; although, it was still a fun game. I'm also a big fan of Code Veronica and would rank that 2nd to the GameCube remake of the original RE, which was probably the scariest out of all the games.
They need to go back to the roots of the franchise: more challenging puzzles, less ammo/items and more survival horror instead of this bio terror BS.
Their should be beginning levels in RE games where they start you out with absolutely nothing. For awhile you have to just run away from zombies and use your surroundings to either set makeshift traps or barricades. Eventually as you progress through the level you find weapons and items.
Anyone play the RE5 DLC, Lost in Nightmares? Looks like it was more akin to the classic games of the series. Too bad it was just a DLC.
