Mayors of four eastern suburbs in Cuyahoga County to explore merger

The leaders of four Cuyahoga County communities that were once parts of Orange Township are thinking about getting their people back together.

The mayors of Moreland Hills, Orange Village, Pepper Pike and Woodmere have agreed to begin an informal exploration of merging into a single community.

Marble Cliff services in standoff between Grandview, Upper Arlington

Marble Cliff didn’t expect a bidding war when it invited cities other than longtime partner Grandview Heights to compete for its services. But when the Marble Cliff Village Council decided Monday night to give Grandview another chance to meet or beat Upper Arlington’s offer, it created just that — along with a standoff that has upset both sides.

Hilliard starts ball rolling toward sharing services

Columbus and some of its neighbors are optimistic that combining purchasing power and sharing services will save money — eventually. On Monday, Hilliard became the first suburb to move toward an agreement that would allow future sharing arrangements among the cities. Approved by Hilliard’s finance committee, the legislation will be heard next week by the full City Council.

‘Regionalism’ is valuable concept in promoting Dublin

Although it is critical to maintain and promote the unique identity we have in the great city of Dublin, it is also important that we work with regional partners to market central Ohio as a whole. Regionalism is particularly important in the travel and tourism world. Think about the last time you went on a business trip or vacation: Do you remember what county or specific city you stayed in? Visitors don’t care about city lines or county boundaries, so it is important that we work with regional partners to help maximize the traveler’s experience.
