Refectory Review

Just got back from Valentines day dinner at the Refectory. For all of those that haven't been there before, let me strongly encourage you to stop by for a visit.

We ordered the fish of the day (bass) and lobster ravioli. The waiter was EXTREMELY helpful and kind. I would say this is some of the best service in Columbus. The food was delicious and the bill was reasonable.

They have a fantastic wine selection. We were just so pleased and I just want to encourage my fellow friends to drop by because it is such a great experience.

Another great restaurant I would suggest is Bel Lago. Do you guys have any other good suggestions?

Anyone else have any opinions of the Refectory?

the Refectory is great! A beautiful restaurant with even more beautiful food and service. I have been there several times. It is easy to get caught up in trendy restaurants but I have found the Refectory consistently excellent.

I always just tell the server or staff to surprise me with whatever they think is best. It always surprises me, either positively or negatively (which is actually good too), and it is a nice way to develop a rapport and respect with the food service employees.

I went to an Indian restaurant called Reethika off Sawmill Rd. today for lunch. It was excellent as well. The food tastes different from the typical Indian fare and the staff was very friendly. I love supporting cuisines that add a twist on typical dining experiences so I plan on going there more.

+1 Bel Lago, the bone in filet is excellent.

It does seem to get overlooked by the CU community, but I agree it is probably one of the best restaurants in Columbus. I go there on special occasions and have never been disappointed.

The first time we went, my girlfriend got the scallop dish. I tried one too and we both agreed that they were delicious. Definitely worth a try.

Since we're on the topic of french restaurants, has anyone ever tried L'Antibles?

I went there last summer for my anniversary and thought it was overpriced and under portioned. I understand that it was a "high class" restaurant but even my girlfriend finished the $40 crabcake in one bite and she's 100 pounds (not to mention it not being that good tasting)...

The wine we had there was fantastic though.

We went to the Refectory for dinner on our first (dating) anniversary, and have been fans ever since.

I think a few seasons back L'Antibles was featured in a restaurant week and we decided to give it a try. It was good, but not really groundbreaking. I know it was a limited prix fixe menu, but neither of us had anything really memorable. Sadly, we haven't been back since, but there really isn't a draw.

I highly recommend the "Bistro" menu at the Refectory - three courses for $30. The menu changes every few weeks, and is a great introduction to the Refectory. It's a nice option for a lovely yet budget-friendly dinner. There are certain restrictions on the bistro menu:
