Let me know what you think of this neighborhood, especially if you live there. I think it has potential, but you tell me.

Are you thinking of buying in Reeb Hosak? I recommend Hungarian Village just to the north of RH. Nicer housing stock, more gays. There are some great deals to be had but you have to move quick.

Just to be honest, Reeb Hosack is pretty rough. And they've lost a lot in the last few years --Schottensteins', the grocery, the elementary school, all closed with the past five years or so.

Here's a photo tour of both for those not familiar with these hoods.
I agree with SusanB. Still, if you'd prefer RH it's probably better to choose the norther section: less unpleasant odors. Both have underutilized stretches of S High, Parsons, and S 4th.

Stay away! Stay very far away!

Some reasons would be nice. Really, the best way to gauge the possible direction of RH is to chat with residents. One thing that might be an indicator is that there's no neighborhood/civic association that I could find. If you go east of Parsons you have Vassor Village which has one and in Parsons case it seems neighborhoods bordering it on the east get better as you go south. You may want to meet with them, since it seems like residents there are more involved in improving their neighborhood. Of course, there's always the southern half of Merion Village, but if you're looking to be an urban pioneer it may not be for you.

There is a civic, it is the Reeb Hosak Planning Committee. Contact the Southside Settlement House for info and contact for it. I can't remeber when they meet, but they do meet monthly.
