This year, instead of having the day of BOOM off (or not having classes, in reality) I have to work. As a result, I can't do my normal RW&B routine of going to VV at noon, parking off of Neil, and walking on in. I was thinking about buying one of the passes for the Arena District Parking Garage- we usually watch the show from the North Bank Area. Does anyone have any experience with this or any other hints?

Also, I can't take COTA because I can't leave my car at work (which would be my first choice), and my house isn't exactly on a busline to get in that morning (I work on the south side, off of Parsons).

For years, we've driven in and parked at the Arena Grand. We set up there on the lawn, have a great view, and after the fireworks we go see a movie (you have to buy tickets to park). No stress, no worries, and most importantly, NO traffic when the movie lets out.

Depending on when you get off work, 5, 6, 7, you should easily still be able to park in the Arena area at one of the garages, parking lots, etc. You may be stuck in the garages for a while trying to get out but there are usually still spots until later in the evening.

If not a movie, grab a drink or a late bite at one of the restaurants open late (Barrio, Tip Top, Jury Room, etc). Let the traffic clear out while you relax. ;)

The only thing I would caution about that garage is that at some point in the day, I may fill up.... as it's used for the Nationwide building there on Marconi & for all of 155 W Nationwide, plus some ancillary stuff. If you park there in the AM & pay then, you should be fine.

Also +1 to the movie route - I've done that a couple times & it's a fantastic way to end the evening.

This space is just west of COSI (under the bridge) & will have a full staff in each field watching things right?

I usually just park across the river off of Goodale and walk, and I usually don't get there until around 5 or 6. It's not too bad headed into the city, it's just a pain in the butt walking back from the bars afterwards, but it gives my friends time to sober up and some funny stories to tell the next day =P Saves us the traffic and some cash, and then we normally just hang out and walk around until the fireworks start.

The movie/drink idea is actually pretty awesome... my big worry is traffic once I get off work coming from the south side, but I guess that's what my mp3 player is for, right?
