The bar is currently under going round 2 of the upgrades and has been closed for about a week now, surprisingly closed on super bowl Sunday weekend to start them.
The first set was nice, it's a little more modern looking inside, the large baseball paintings are gone.
I for one am very excited for pizza by the slice and more beers on tap.
And I will say offering pizza by the slice and more beer is a improvement that is much needed over the ability to order a frozen pizza they cook for you and 3 beer taps. It needed a little life breathed into it, it's a great location (for myself and anyone in that area I think) and an amazing under-rated patio and just felt like it was running on empty for awhile. The old owners were and still are great people, it's just really cool to see some more active interest in the place.
Some nights it was a ghost town, but some nights it was packed out, I really don't anticipate that changing much. Most of those who are in the bar are from the area, I often recognized half the street in their at one time.
Luckily for groundrules finding a dive bar in the area is still really easy to find. At this point Hey Hey looks like total crap so that's always a good option if you like sitting next to storage and power equipment.
