I love documentaries, and have seen many of the ones listed here.
One recent one that was great, and currently streaming in Netflix, was "Buck", about the actual "horse whisperer"... pretty great stuff.

The best ones I stumbled on on 2011 are the motorcycle tours taken by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, Long Way Around (motorcycling around the world),followed by Long Way Down (Scotland to South Africa).
They both are unique and mind-blowing, with the second one obviously being more polished and more time spent developing.
We've been inspired to plan on taking our honeymoon via motorcycle as a result later this year (if we get around to getting married this year, that is...)
They can be a little difficult to locate, but Cbus Public Library has them in stock...
Can't recommend them enough.

We are thinking of a summer trip up to the St Lawrence as far as possibly Quebec and then over to Portland Maine and back, one way or another. Taking our time with probably 4-6hr rides at a time at most.
Could do the whole "fly to some random tropicL island" for a honeymoon, but would rather have an adventure...
I still will have to get a proper bike for the distance, passenger, and gear. The one thing I disagreed with Long Way Around was the size of bike being overkill...

I did. I almost put it in that movies-about-movies list. It's not his best, but it's pretty entertaining. Very informative if you don't know much about how product placement works.

We took a break from our usual "look-how-shitty-the-world-is" documentaries this weekend and watched Being Elmo on Netflix. Really nice film; I have a new respect for puppeteers.

I just saw this post but if you're still interested in that trip. I have a R1200 GS ADV that you can size up and give a try. I don't think it's overkill for the trip you're putting together. Especially if taking a passenger with you.
Sounds like fun. Let me know.
The Long Way videos are incredible. There was talk of a South American trip but I don't know what happened.

Indeed, there were definitely some emotional moments in there. Amazing how many lives he's touched through something as seemingly simple as a puppet—he's a very talented and gifted man.
