Recipe Maintenance App or Program?

One of my 2011 projects is to try and find a new system for storing all of our various recipes. What I would like to find is a good web based application that would allow me to enter them and then allow me to tag recipes and then search by various categories i.e.:
Meal - breakfast, lunch, dinner, rubs & marinades, drinks...
Item - salmon, cauliflower, orzo, vodka...
Type - Thai, Mexican...

I've done some web searches for this, but haven't come up with anything that really impresses me. So I thought I'd check with the food types of CU.

(*I should add that I can use apps on my i-phone, but this project seems like something I would store on my computer which is MS Windows. But apps are appreciated, as it might be a good reason for an ipad purchase)

My first noble attempt a few years ago was a series of 3-ring binders with tabbed dividers. It did the trick for a while, but is becoming unmanageable. Ripped pages, sauce splattered pages...

I'd be interested if anyone has found a good app for the droid.
I've tested a couple but never found one that I stuck with. My current system also consists of a stack crumpled, food spattered papers. Or using the browser on my phone to pull up recipes from allrecipes.com when on the fly.

It's funny, I've tried a handful of these, and they all make me crazy. Have to reenter everything by hand, etc. etc. I honestly have yet to find a system more efficient and useful than scrawling notes in the margins of cookbooks (interspersed with Snarf's pile o' stained papers)... but if you find one let me know. Sorry.

Based on the limited information here, my guess is you could off-shore this development and get it built for about $1500 - $2500 bucks.

I have used Elance in the past with success.

At the moment I have permanent off-shore teams for certain tasks (administrative, online marketing, research, etc.) that I initially secured through oDesk, which I just happen to like better than Elance.

Regardless, both marketplaces have their pros and cons. You just have to be crystal clear in your communications.

Give me a shout if you want, but seriously listen to that Mixergy interview to get a clearer picture on how to execute.

I don't use a lot of recipes and have no good system for keeping track of the ones I do use. Recipe box, notes in cookbooks, bookmarked recipe blog posts...it would be nice to organize it all I suppose but the hodge podge is working ok for me right now.

I have a ton of recipes "organized" in some 3-ring binders, others in favorite cookbooks with scribbled notes, and I use several different online sources, some saved in My Docs. Sometimes instead of trying to remember where I stored a particular recipe, I just don't make it. I'd love some master organizing system ideas.

Never tried it, but for OS X there's Yummy Soup, they're going to release an iPhone/iPad app in the first quarter of this year too according to their site. If you try this and like it, I think it's half price on the app store, so buy it there instead.

I haven't found a good ap to manage everything, but what's worked for me is to use a checklist ap (I like Color Note for android) and create a meal list for the week. If I don't know how to make the meal, I'll add a note about where to find the recipe (whether it's a link, page in a specific cookbook, something I emailed to myself.) Then there's no need to print out the recipe, and no risk of losing it.

Have you checked out tastebook.com? Not really a system, but a really cool way to put together a cook book with recipes. We've made them for gifts for a couple family members.
