I'm pretty sure everyone (including straight neighbors, the I.V. Commission and W.P. residents) loves Exile! If there has really been any complaints about Exile from our community, I would be terribly ashamed and would hope those closed-minded assclowns move back to the inbred, conservative and cloistered world from which they came.
Yes, the blog post was pretty tongue-in-cheek. Obviously there's not going to be a switch. Although a Christian Science reading room would be nice. ;)
As for the inbred assclowns, when I wrote the blog post there was definitely a lack of love for the Exile in Italian Village. Maybe it's better now but it wasn't then.
In the past we in the WP have looked into a nuisance liquor license complaint about the D&J Carryout. And they are incredibly difficult to get pushed through even with 20 something police runs and a couple murders in front of the place in a year. We eventually gave up. The fact that someone got this moved right up to City Council after a couple relatively minor complaints is stunning to me. So either there is someone(s) very well connected behind it or there was some serious Italian Village Commission support behind it. We were always informed there had to be widespread community support to close a business and I have no idea which happened in IV. On the other hand this wasn't the last inbred, conservative and cloistered move to come out of that part of town. Sorry mercurious but the assclown quotient seems fairly high there to me.
The bottom line for me is the Exile have fixed up the building and seem to be a good neighbor as far as I can see. There are quirks that come from living by a bar so if that bugs you don't move there. I'd take it any day over a carryout that I've lost count of how many people have been shot out front of it.
