This place is an absolute oasis in an area of north Columbus (Crosswoods) that lacks variety and authentic dining.

I stumbled upon this restaurant a couple nights ago after watching a movie at the Crosswoods movie theater. It is definitely designed for optimal sports (soccer!) watching with a modern German "biergarten" feel. It is located right next to Sushiko and, aside from the cool exterior sign, it definitely has a humble exterior (compared to the interior! By my count, it seats approximately 200 people and will be a huge hit during the football season.

Tables, chairs and bar stools gave the place a Euro feel, and the draft beer taps that protrude from four wall-mounted barrels are super cool and unique. They have approximately 30 draft beers - more than half of which are German). I had the Paulaner Oktoberfest and Paulaner Munich (which I haven't seen on tap anywhere in Ohio!)

The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I spent a few weeks in Frankfurt a couple of years ago, and everything from the bratwurst to the mustard (original German "senf"!) at the WB was 100% authentic. The jumbo pretzel was also amazing - served with senf, obazda cheese, and German pickles.

Schmidt's, watch out! Wurst und Bier will definitely develop a loyal following if they keep it up.

Chris, usually when people sign it to prop up a place on their very first post they usually say the food "is to die for" as has been my experience.

I've said many times that Columbus needs a biergarten. Wurst und Bier website and lack of appropriate social media promotion doesn't lead me to believe it will be the authentic experience I long for.

I suppose I should try the place once before making a judgement but what is the internet for other than spouting off unfounded opinions??

Most of the people who discuss food trucks are people who have posted here many times. I just think people tend to be skeptical when first time posters give glowing reviews of restaurants. More often than not it's people affiliated with the establishment creating bogus accounts. Throw in a first-time Yelp account with it and you can understand.

I'm not accusing "ChrisV" of being a fake account or discouraging anyone from making a first post on here about a restaurant they like. Just explaining why sometimes people to tend to raise an eyebrow when topics like this pop up.

Even if it is a fake post, that doesn't mean I won't try them out either. I just like it better when someone comes on and says "I've got this place, come try me out."

Food Fort is a project of ECDI to help entrepreneurs get started. They're pretty transparent with who they are, are easily found through Google and it seems like one of their first posts was to hop on the introduction thread. BIG difference.

I'm not saying that it is going to prevent me from checking it out because I work near there and love German food, but I hate this form of marketing with a passion. I don't need to be used car sales guyed into trying your business.

Foodfort bumping a thread isn't the same thing. If they had created an account named "Bobby345" and said "Hey, you should check out this neato food truck that I ate at recently..." then yes, we'd be talking about the same thing.

It must be exhausting going out of your way all of the time to be contrarian just for the sake of it.

fake review aside, they don't have to be social media savvy to have "authentic" food. I doubt I'll ever go there, but it could still be good.

ChrisV (or T), in the future, just make it obvious that you own the place/have some vested interest in it, say what it is, post some pictures, some menu items, etc. You would have gotten a much different reaction.

I went there yesterday for lunch and the place was actually really busy - I was surprised. The decor is a little sparse, but still looks nice and clean. Hey, they had two metal signs of my favorite beers from Berlin, so I couldn't really complain about that. Too bad that they didn't have them on tap or in the bottle. Thanks State of Ohio for your random rules about which booze and beers are invited into our Puritan land mass. I was still envious of the people chugging beers though.

Currywurst und Pommes is a Berlin favorite street food that is for sure and I have to admit that Wurst's was very good and authentic in flavor. It came with one side and bread for $7 I think. Not bad a price. I had this with the German Bratwurst. Next came the Pork Schnitzel with red cabbage and fried taters. This was good too.

Even though it is quite a haul from downtown for me, I will be back. Better than Schmidt's maybe not in terms of atmosphere, but the food was more to my palate. Oh, I know I am going to get sh*t for that.

A very, very belated thanks to those that supported The Fort when I was not paying attention to the thread - I think Cheap missed the point.

And as for posting here - posts are transparent - we are here to support the mobile food - and the brick and mortar restaurant community.
