We got some barrels for $10 each from a guy who owned a car wash - his soap etc came in them so they were apparently a constant disposal issue for him. At least that's what he told us. Worth asking around at car washes?

Rain Brothers Bringing Back a Bygone Conservation Method
Business Profiles  By Melanie McIntyre
March 23, 2011 at 8:00 am | Edit
When Zach “Gordy†Smith and brothers Jonathan and Michael Maier started a business together in 2007, they didn’t look far for a name. The men, fittingly, called their Columbus-based rainwater harvesting business Rain Brothers.
“Honestly, we thought it would be easy to remember,†says Jonathan. “Gordy and I are like brothers and we’re in the rain business, so it just made sense.â€Â

I made a rain barrel myself out of a large plastic trashcan and a spigot. The hardest part was figuring out a spigot arrangement that wouldn't leak. Not sure in the end if I saved any money over buying one commercially, but it was a fun project.
Ours sits up on top of a large odd fire escape that we have, so there's actually enough water pressure from it to run a hose or a sprinkler.

Grove City offered a class last year that I attended for $35 and got a 55 gallon rain barrel and installation kit. It was very easy to install and I use it all the time. It was a class offered by Rain Brothers. The class was about an hour long. I got a plain white barrel but they did offere a more decrative barrel for $55. Disregard my comment on the above post about the 65 gallon thing.Posted 10 months ago # -
I'm interested in doing something around rain collection when my gutters get installed. I've been looking at some projects people have done using these 200-300 gallon IBC totes. I need to measure off the given dimensions but I think I have a perfect spot to fit 1 or 2 of these to the side of the house and use a DIY kit from Rain Brothers.
Anyone else interested and want to split the cost of a U-Haul and help each other source a couple and move them?
