This is for anyone looking to refit a bathtub. The duplex I recently bought has/had tubs that were retrofitted with Luxury Bath liners. During the renovation on one side, the tub began to leak. Thankfully the ceiling below it had already been removed.
It turns out that Luxury Bath systems charged the previous owner $4000.00 to install a liner that adds 2 inches to the depth of the tub. To ice the cake they installed it with a smaller diameter drain, then threaded the shoe (first pipe below tub) to the drain sideways and forced, with duct tape. Of course the shoe stripped, and the duct tape became worn. I worked with every local and national brass tub outfitter I could find, got advice from plumbers etc and even called Luxury. The smaller drains that they install cannot be extended, nobody makes the parts. They told me to go to Lowes and denied that their drains were smaller than standard. I ended up tearing the whole bathroom out in order to get what should have been a minor plumbing problem fixed.
Hopefully nobody reading this has a Luxury liner. If you do, I urge you to check your plumbing connections before you too end up in this situation. Their service Tech Jim will tell you that they warranty their liners, but not the connections.
