Mary and I met some members of the Ganther’s Place Block Watch last night at the Social Media Café meeting. They have had a static Website and monthly newsletter for quite some time now, but they were looking for some more dynamic means of connecting with other neighborhood organizations and communicating with their residents. Jeff Johnson and the rest of the crew at the Social Media Café showed them the basics of setting up a blog and connecting it to Twitter and Flickr.
Anybody who is familiar with that section of town knows that it can get pretty rough in areas, but these people have ignored that they are on the “wrong side of Parsons†by keeping litter off their streets, setting up an annual garden tour, and reporting suspicious activity to the authorities. Anybody who is using Twitter can follow them at http://www.twitter.com/ganthersplace
This brings me to the point of my post. They are looking for information on how to get landlords to pay more attention to destructive behavior of their tenants. I was hoping that we might have people on the boards with some experience in this area who could help them out. Seeing a thread full of helpful suggestions could be a great way to introduce them to Columbus Underground. Thanks a bunch!
