My partner and I just moved to town with our young children. Had heard Columbus was a progressive, gay-friendly place but can't seem to find the gay mamas. Seeking leads on queer-friendly playgroups and the like.

I've seen quite a few gay parents at the Clintonveille farmer's market, which is a good place to go anyway!

School for Young Children at the First UU Church in Clintonville is a very gay/lesbian-friendly preschool, so you might call there and ask. Lots of other parenting resources at the UU Church there in general.

I've heard good things about this place:

A good gay friend of mine has her artwork there and is friends with the owners, both of whom are lesbians (but not partners) and one of whom has two children. She had nothing but good things to say about it.Also, welcome to Columbus! Hope you like it here.

As usual, Tracy is right-Clintonville in general is chock full of playgrounds and VERY tolerant/supportive. Indianola Alternative K-8 is awesome (and breeders are welcome there, too!)
If geography plays into your plans, let us know what part of town you are in...Posted 1 year ago # -

Welcome to Columbus!
Firefly Play Cafe on High street in North Clintonville is a great place to start.
You may also wish to check out King Avenue United Methodist Church for a network of other same-sex parents. Lots of children from ALL kinds of families. Lots of very supportive, straight-alliances.
Broad Street UMC would be another great option.
