I want to sail this summer. I want my friends to learn how to sail. I found this site and wondered if anyone had any experience with them. http://www.wowsailingschool.com/smallboat.htm They're teaching on small boats which is perfect for beginners, but I'd like to also go out on a larger boat. I grew up on 30' to 42' catamarans so that's what I'm used to. Anyone have a boat you wanna take me out on?

There is a sailing club at Hoover Lake: http://www.hooversailingclub.com/links.htm
and another at Alum Creek Lake:

I sailed at Hoover two years ago, they race on Wednesday nights through the summer months. Both places have a few different types of dinghies; Alum creek also has a small fleet of catamarans. I think this is also a club at Buckeye Lake...
Both sites have contact info; you could email them and see if anyone is looking for crew. I think both also offer classes in the summer as well. Hope this helps!

I grew up pretty close to the Lake and it is definitely missed. My grandparents have a Nauticat 33, but I haven't had the opportunity to go out on it recently.

Sadly the word was skybus, but now it's wait till I can afford a real vacation! lol there is something amazingly peaceful about sailing on the ocean that is hard to duplicate.

I've sailed with ACSA for a couple of years, and they are all good people. They have many social events, hopefully you can find someone who needs crew. They race usually on Wednesday nights at 6pm, and Sundays at some point.
There is also Leatherlips Yacht Club and they are a real good group of people. They usually have regattas on Sundays as well, and student stuff during the week. There is a 24-hour endurance race coming up Memorial day weekend!
Feel free to PM me anytime, just if it is to say "hey, i like sailing!" hehehe

Prehistoric Forest is TOTALLY still there. And awesome, even when I'm approaching 28.

It's Put-in-Bay. Some auslanders call is Pudding Bay though. I can aver that the water there is very water-y and not very pudding-y.

Well, that's what it sounds like I'm saying, but that's just because my vowel sounds are still pretty hick and I talk really fast

Thom, here's the trip info...
PUT-IN-BAY LAKESIDE SPECTACULAR
When: Friday-Sunday, August 1-3
Where: Put-in-Bay or surrounding Lake Erie island
We plan to do a really fun weekend trip on one of the surrounding islands, where people can swim, boat, bask, bike or rent scooters. Also, you can drink a lot. People were talking about beach camping or renting some cabins. This is open for discussion, but this place gets super crowded. We need to has out the details.
Cost: about $100
Registration deadline: before July 5

yeah i dunno why i spouted that off like someone actually brought that up, i just love that area... i've wanted to go up there so many times, but sort of pointless perhaps by yourself (although i bet if i got in good with one of the towny drunk-bus drivers, could be cool)
at the main intersection between the various points of interests, there is the magical place known as Cheese Haven... would have to make a stop there...
sounds like a fun time!

I've been sailing since I was a very small child and my dad and brother both belong to Leatherlips (it's right by the zoo). They are a GREAT group of people. I know they do lessons in the summer, too!
I'm also available if you'd like more info!
Sailing is absolutely AMAZING!!!
