So the foodie is asking for help. My rents are coming into town this weekend and I want to take them to a nice place to eat outside. We have done abuelos and stuff but where else can we go. We are not the fancy smancy type of people so rigsby's is out. Basically looking to spend under $20 a plate cause we are going to hit up hyde park and fish market most likely sometime this week. Any and all suggestions are helpful! Thanks.

Nice Patios and food options that won't break the bank:
- Jimmy V's
- Due Amici
- Tip Top
- Union Cafe
- Haiku
- Bodega
- Brownstone
- Lotus
- North Market
- Spice Bar
- Spagio
Or you could always try out the new Marcella's which combines the open-windows for semi-outdoor dining with the bonus of no smoking since you're technically indoors.

I definitely second the patio at Jimmy V's in German Village although it is covered. Other fave patios of mine are also Union and MoJoe.

Basi has an amazing patio

Banana Bean in German Village. Couple tables in front and a nice back patio.
Definitely second Basi's patio as an urban oasis since it is not on the street. It might be the only one listed so far that has no street/parking lot exposure.
Z Cucina in Grandview.

I think Barcelona's patio is the prettiest in the city.

basi's patio is great.
when my parents came, we ate on the patio at Confluence Park. Its probably a bit over you budget, but it has a great view of the city.

BTW, Barcelona's prices are right in your wheelhouse, and here's a shot of the patio

p.s. Banana Bean is off the list, they were forced to stop serving on the patio at least last time I was there. Basi, however, is amazing.

i second (i guess its more like fourth at this point) this - and their food is delicious! barcelona is also nice, although a bit on the pricey end of your budget. on the lower end, northstar is always a good option.

I think most have been covered except Elevator, Ted's, Gordon Biersch, and Claddaugh.

Yeah, on the website Barcelona's website looks pricier than I actually ever spend there, not sure what's up with that. I will say this dish is my regular:
Baked Fusilli Pasta - calamata olives, corn, bacon, gorgonzola, garlic, cream 18
and out of this world.

I actually changed my original post because I did mean the one in German Village. There is indeed another one in Grandview though...even has the same wall of water. No great patio though...just a few tables facing the street. The one in Grandview is on 5th Ave.

I got yelled at (by a patron) for touching the wall of water once. What an ass.
