I have several nice silk outfits I've never worn that I'd like to clean out of the closet -- has anybody had good experiences with a particular consignment shop? I'm not expecting big money, but something better than craigslist prices!

I can't speak to consignment shops in particular, but in general my experience has been that selling things online (craigslist, eBay, etc.) will almost ALWAYS net a better price than going through a reseller like a consignment shop - if for no other reason than that you cut out (or at least seriously reduce) the middleman costs... consignment shops want to make a profit by re-selling...

not really much luck

Thanks! I'll check out the Grandview shops. I've not sold things on Ebay before; tried to take a photo of these outfits, since I know that's key, but the pics came out lousy.

There is that store in the Short North too. Take Two (? I cant remember the exact name?) but its on High inbetween Russell and Lincoln.

"One More Time" on 5th street in Grandview is a pretty cool place to take your clothes. They're staff is really sweet and they'll explain how the consignment process works. They won't take just anything, but it'll be a great way to get rid of those clothes you no longer want, but are in great shape and could easily pass into someone else's wardrobe.
Check em out.

Anyone had luck with one of those Ebay consignment stores in town? I found this one online (ISold It) and I think I saw one on Indianola just north of Clintonville - any recommendations are welcome. I have a room full of kid's clothes that I'd love to sell for spare change, but it's too much hassle for me to take pics myself and post ads online. Thanks!!

If all else fails, you can donate them (and take a tax write off).

For kids clothes, I would try just listing it as a 'lot' on Craigslist. Mention some of the things and take a few pictures, but really just say what size they are.

Does anyone have any local "ebay for you" businesses that split the profit?

ebay consignment stores will charge you a minimum of 33% of what you make, some charge 40%.
most ebay consignment stores are ebay power sellers, who pay much lower seller fees than the average ebay seller.
bottom line,ebay consignment stores are a ripoff.Posted 2 years ago # -
Thanks everybody. I think I'll try out a consignment shop - I appreciate the advice. If anyone has used a local Ebay seller and has feedback let me know! There aren't any reviews on Yelp.
