Could be a scary trend down that way ... I noticed that the Old Mohawk was closed last night. No signs, no info...

I just think they closed because of the game. No business.

Same at G. Michaels, I noticed, too. The game seems a likely explanation.

What is going on around here?

Clearly... the world ended when Ohio State didn't win last night. We are all just dreaming right now. :D

i went in there a couple weeks ago and they told me they were closing because they weren't getting enough business. my work is near there. back to wendy's, donato's, mcdonald's, or subway as my only work food options. :(

what about sonic?

man! didn't they JUST open? I have no idea because the first time I noticed them was last week!
Are there any realtors on this board who can tell us the importance of location? The mantra seems to have slipped my mind. . .

that is sad. my office is right around the corner and this was a nice option, instead of mcdonalds.

yeah, it sucks. oodles wasn't the best, but it was better than the other crap in that neighborhood. the discovery or market exchange or red brick or whatever district needs more options, but if people aren't willing to support the people who do try, then what can they do?

I don't want to pick on you, because it seems like a sort of 'off-the-cuff' / 'not the point of what I said' remark, but the quote above really kind of rubs me the wrong way.
businesses don't survive because they're not selling what people want. There is no obligation of support. It was an unfortunate decision to serve THAT food at THAT location - and because the failure seems so punctuated by their short stay, it seems like someone probably deserved to loose a bunch of money in the buildout and lease and startup costs. It's bad research, bad location, poor marketing and who knows what else. it's not the 'community's' fault for not supporting it, they're not orphans, they're grown ups.

I used to work at Oodles. They have been sold and will be under new management. I am going to come right out and say that their past management was, in my opinion, some of the worst I have seen. A classic example of "the only thing that matters is money"-- very cheap.
Money matters, but in business, if you can't treat your customers and employees with respect, they'll repay you in kind. 8)

Is the location on Neil closed too? I was over that way the other afternoon, and it looked dark inside at a time they're usually open.
I hope if there is new management, they improve the quality. I so want to like that place, because I like that type of food, and it's so close to where I live...if the food weren't so mediocre, I'm sure I'd be eating there at least a couple times a week.

so does this mean they'll reopen?

I dunno-- maybe the one on Neil, I think?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Um. No.
Their location on Neil Avenue had to be the most disgustingly filthy restaurant I have ever been in.
I almost threw up when I went into their bathroom.
I also forbid those I love from ever eating there again.
And did you ever SEE how they let their staff dress.
Besides... Are they no longer even open in the evening hours? When I was at Giant Eagle the other night the place was closed.
Such a shame. A good dumpling spot could have been great.

Well, one noteworthy phenomenon was how the place smelled of sewage the entire time it was open. A specialist came in to check it out and it turns out some "cap" was loose under the cement floor... and it was never repaired. Gosh just thinking about it makes me hungry!
Note to new management: please fix that.
