Do you guys think a high end Nike Shoe boutique would be able to make it in columbus, like the short north area?

If people are stupid enough to shell out $230 for jeans in the short north, I don't see why similarly overpriced and ugly shoes couldn't fair well there.

I think it could do okay...would be a cool place to visit at least.

With the Nike Factory Outlet at Jeffersonville?! Heck no! :)

I dont see why not. I mean Cleveland and Cincy have stores that Columbus does not but should have (such as Lacoste, Kenneth Cole, Tiffany's, MAC). I also heard through the rumor mill that Gucci was going to be returning to Columbus at Easton or that we will be home to Ohio's only free-standing Louis Vuitton store! Take that Cleveland and Cincy!!!

Yes, Columbus doesn't have enough retail already!!!! Per person isn't columbus one of the most retailed places in the USA?

sarcasm?
I am refering to limited edition nikes, the types you can find in soho and what not. The ones that only certain boutiques can get. There is not a place like this in all of ohio that I am aware of.

I've heard that before, but I've never seen any real research stats to prove it. I wasn't sure if it was an urban legend or not.

Perhaps we can get the first Starbury boutique...
well if they were smart, they'd sign up some buckeyes like E George, T Ginn, T Smith, M Redd, etc... to come out with some extremely limited edition versions that members of the insane faithful would snap up.

I think the Dispatch reported at one point that we have more mall square footage per capita than any city but Oklahoma City (of all places); I didn't save the article, but I'm pretty sure I remember that right because it stuck out at me (both because of us and because of OKC).
I guess it's actually not inconceivable that an "exclusive" Nike store could build market share here; I imagine a fair number of the fitness-crazy crowd at OSU would be into it, as well as their older counterparts in the working adult community.

Actually, our store in the Short North, Sole Classics, just got approved for a top tier Nike acct and will soon be carrying many limited release Nikes not found anywhere in central Ohio. You can check our myspace page @ http://www.myspace.com/soleclassics for updates on all our shoes and when the first shipments of Nike will start arriving.

Wow, that is great. I have been to your store before but I do not really wear any of those brands you carry now. Glad to here this I will definitely be a customer. I am not sure how nike accounts work, but will you be carrying limited air maxes or is it more along the lines of nike sb.

Interesting ... I see the Puma Lifestyle/Blackstation/Silo there ... just out of curiosity, are you stocking 96 Hours?

We'll mainly be carrying limited edition/release Air Max, Air Stab, Dunks, and a few other styles here and there depending on what we like. We will be getting our first shipments of Nike hopefully w/in the month depending on what's immediately available. We are also on the list to receive Quickstrike and Hyperstrike releases but we are going to be notified of those weeks or possibly even days before they arrive.
As for the 96 Hours by Neil Barrett we currently have four styles on the shelf, two Clydes, an XC Favo, and a Sandal. We also carry the Mihara and Rudolf Dassler line of Blackstation.
Any further question feel free to call the store @ 299-2290 or stop by @ 765 N. High St. (right in between Planet Smoothy and Dr. Mojoe.)

Awww man! I was hoping Nike had made some kind of fancy bladed-toe ninja shoes!

That would be the new Nike Oddjob line, coming in 007/2007.

Nike boutique.. sounds interesting. Would it also carry vintage Nike gear? That would be great! Something the shortnorth needs is a sport-gear store (shoes, clothes, etc.).
