I recently picked up a couple suits and I need the pants tailored. Can anyone make any recommendations? How much does this sort of thing normally cost and how long does it take? I'd prefer a place that'll actually take measurements instead of asking what length I buy my pants.

I go to a place off Brice Road across the street from Lowes.
I don't see a simple pant hem there costing more than $5-10 per pair.
I took in two pairs of jeans not long ago, one to have the zipper replaced and another to get some of the flare taken out and it was like $25...which are obviously more labor intensive than a simple hem...and she did excellent work. She did request a few days to complete the job, though.

personally, i don't entrust my clothing with anybody other than boris or his wife, marika. they'll do the type of shit -- taking a jacket apart at the shoulder, for example -- that the tailors at saks and nordstrom simply can't. and if you're talking about a suit, which is an investment of sorts ... let's just say you don't want just any old swinging dick cutting it up. go see boris or marika; tell them ryan morgan sent you.
Agreed-Boris.

Awwww, this was the thread I was trying to find. The guys who mentioned Boris are 100% correct. I had this same problem when I moved to Columbus. I had some French Cuff shirts that were a little too long, and saw French Tailor on Front, i believe? Worst work ever, the sleeves were made entirely too short, and I was furious because the shirt was basically ruined. After asking some locals if we had any local places for menswear besides Nordstrom and Saks, I was refered to Godfrey's in the Worthington Mall ( if anyone desires more "classic" lines than what this Saks offers check them out) and Godfrey's informed me they send all of their clients to Boris. I tried them out, and have used them ever sense. I had one problem with a cuff hem coming out once on a pair of khakis, but they fixed the problem. I have also heard of a great tailor out in Gahanna, but I cannot remember the name, and frankly I do not even think I have been to Gahanna, so I stick to Boris.

Reviving this thread. I'm in need of dress alterations. Still the same recommendations as above or do any of the CU ladies have some suggestions?

German Village just beside Barcelona, Alterations German Village‎ - 267 E Whittier St, Columbus, OH‎ - (614) 449-1092‎, I went on the recommendation of a friends and she did a great job on dress pants for me and I believe it was $10 ready in just a few days during a busy December week.
One of the friends has men's clothing altered and the other women's.

Long's tailoring @ 2871 Brice Road. Fast, friendly and not very expensive. Much better and cheaper than Swan cleaners. Swan was eating my wallet for simple hems and sleeves. Long's Ph# 6143222741

The only serious taylor for serious high end clothes in Nina. Look her up. South High. If you're just too lazy to hem your pants, fine go to shims and take your chances, but Nina and only Nina for your Armani Suit.
