WE WON! All the Near East Side local liquor options rejected alcohol sales -- at the BP, and the six beer/wine/liquor questions in Precinct 4-A.
All votes were resoundingly in favor of drying up the area: roughly 70-30 margins in support of neighborhood improvement and safety. Great job to all who organized and worked so hard on the issue: Mike Moore (President of OTENA), Heather Bowden, Walter Chappalier, Kathy Webb, Sonia Lindsay, and all who did the hard work of gathering the signatures to put the issue on the ballot.

Near East Side voters put an end to carryout stores' alcohol sales

It took three years, but neighborhood leaders on the Near East Side now have what they've long sought: a ban on booze sales.
Voters rejected each of six liquor options by ratios of roughly 3-to-1 on Tuesday. That should eliminate alcohol sales in the precinct by the six current permit-holders by the end of the year.

The Dispatch article suggests that the ban may be held in abeyance by the Ohio Division of Liquor Control until another vote can be had. Terribly disappointing if true but at least the process is that much closer to finality.
Has there been any discussion about eliminating alcohol sales at the carryouts on Long Street and Taylor Avenue? Not sure which precinct(s) they encompass.

I don't think so. I believe the way it works is that the permit holders can hold the licenses (not using them) for a year to give them a chance to put the matter to vote again. Ie - they don't have to apply for a new license and then put the matter to vote which is the process where there is no license available.
