Portable AC repair in Columbus? Do they even exist?

So, Ive been calling around to these AC/Air companies around Columbus, about repairing a Portable AC unit (for my server). I need to find a company, that will repair the unit (ASAP).

About the AC unit: Haier 7,000 BTU Model HPE07XC6.. I bought the unit at a retailer. Its not broken, but its slowly begging to blow out warmer air.

I'm new to the area, so could someone suggest a company that repairs Portable AC units? I can tell you right off, I already called Sears and Classic Air. They do not repair portable ac units.

I wanted to give this a bump, your suggestion for Classic Air helped me out as my house one gave out last night, and tis the season. I'm sure there is someone on the board who knows something?! Best of luck, and thank you.

Usually its not economical to repair portable units. If money is no object and you do not want to buy a new one, service can usualy be done.

Don't they just require a recharge? It would seem that this would be an easy repair, unless the refrigerant and attachments are outdated, and thus unrepairable.

Portable AC units are generally not worth fixing. If they don't fail within the initial purchase warranty, they work for a long time (very little in them to go bad). By the time they do start failing, they have so many hours of use they are just worn out. The only fail mode worth fixing is a leak in a coil caused by a puncture, but it is expensive to do that also. I had a puncture leak in my car AC, it cost $300 to fix and recharge the system.

for the cost of repair you could buy a new one for slightly more or break even i suspect. alot of those services just dont seem to exist anymore, like vacuum cleaner repair...

It's unfortunate really. I've had the same # of vacuums as my mom because she had one that lasted 20+ years and I seem to have to get a new one every two or three years. The microwave we had growing up was a wedding present to my parents and it's still kicking in my stepsister's kitchen. I've had 2 in about 5 years. Sometimes it's worth the money to repair things because while it may cost the same to buy a new one, you might have to buy another new one in a few years because the quality is such crap on new stuff. If I was handy I'd much rather fix things than toss them in to the landfill and buy another piece of crap, lol.

There's a place on High south of downtown that I've used before, and I'll be taking my one year old vacuum there to replace the broken hose soon.

ETA: Found it. Blanchard's.

Save your money, Cookie. Find your parts manual (get make and model from unit and search Internet) and I'll show you how to take it apart and diagnose the problem and replace the part.

I've diagnosed the problem already. The hose is made of plastic and it split. My attempts to fix it with duct tape have turned out to be very short term solutions. I'll take you up on your offer to help me take it apart and fix though. Thanks!
